Hawaii Day 2

We hit the ground running on Day 2.
Remember how we're geriatric and went to bed super early?  Well, that meant an early start the next day!  We started off getting the snorkeling gear from our rental house and going to Waimea Beay to swim some laps for a workout.
Sidenote: I LOVE being married to someone that can swim well!  I love that we can push each other when we swim.

After our workout we headed to a local Farmer's Market.

Then we hustled home to grab a quick lunch before our surfing lesson!  This was our big splurge of the trip.  Scott's always wanted to learn and I was up for it, so we booked a lesson.  Our instructor, Buttons, is a legend on the North Shore and he was an amazing teacher!  We both caught on pretty quickly and rode tons of waves in the two and a half hours we were out there.  I have pictures, just not organized yet.  This was our favorite part of the whole trip!

After surfing, we hit up our favorite shave ice place, Matsumoto's! Scott loves his with the sweetened condensed milk on top and azuki beans on the top.  I love mine with ice cream, because how could you not?!

After a quick shower, we went to an awesome local burger place.  I ordered the avocado burger.  The avocado that was put on my burger was, I kid you not, twice the size of the burger.  They don't mess around with their avocados!  After dinner, we decided we hadn't had enough to eat and stopped at Ted's Bakery (again) and picked up their famous Chocolate Haupia Pie (It's like a chocolate coconut cream pie).  Yes, an entire pie for two people.  We had no problem finishing it over the course of the trip.  I don't like pie.  Really, I don't.  It's a fact that makes Scott really sad.  So I wasn't thrilled about getting this, but knew he'd love it.  I just have to say that this pie was absolutely heavenly!  It's the only way I know how to describe it.  I LOVED it.  I have since googled recipes so that we don't have to wait until we make it back to Hawaii to enjoy it again.
