No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!

Addie's favorite animal sound is a monkey. One of her favorite things to do is jump on the bed. Put these two together and you have one adorable monkey jumping on the bed.

Enjoy!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

One of my family's favorite pictures of me as a kid is this one:
I was simply enjoying a nice piece of chicken straight from the garbage bin. It turns out that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.

In my cake class my teacher warned us not to put buttercream down our drain, but to put the bulk of it in the garbage can, then wash out the rest of it in the sink. Being the obedient student I am, I dumped all my frosting in the garbage and then turned my back and began scrubbing away at the sink. I heard a small rustling noise behind me and turned to find this little monkey elbow deep in the garbage can, the green buttercream already smeared on her face!
(Seeing as how the damage was already done, yes, I did let her continue what she was doing so I could snap a picture)
"I've got to get every last bit of it off my fingers!"
"Maybe I can sneak another taste when she turns her back..."
On a related note, here are the finished cupcakes from last nights class. We learned all about making flowers. Pictured are plenty of roses, drop flowers and my personal favorite the shaggy mums (the just look like a crazy head of hair).
I am dying to make an actual cake to practice all these different kinds of flowers. I just don't know what we would do with an entire cake, so if there are any takers in the area, I am serious about making you a cake!

No More Grief

Story Time

Scott and I designed our wedding cake together. It had four tiers. Along with all the decorations, we each chose our own special flavor combination. Our flavors had two tiers each. My flavor was on the top and bottom tier (chocolate cake with buttercream...simple, but oh so good!). Scott's flavor was on the middle two tiers (golden yellow cake with raspberry cream cheese filling and cream cheese frosting). There was an equal amount of both flavors.

At the reception, when we cut into the cake, we of course cut into the bottom tier and smashed it into each other's faces. With all of the craziness of the reception and getting ready to leave on our honeymoon, that was all the cake we tasted. Our moms, of course, saved us the top tier to eat on our one year anniversary (which we ate as soon as we got home from our honeymoon).

Do you see where this story is going?

Scott did not get to taste a single bite of his original flavor.

And he has never let me forget it! So for Valentine's Day I decided to recreate his wedding cake. I made individual cakes with all of his requirements for the wedding cake. He was so surprised and boy, did I have a happy man! It only took 3 1/2 years, but I eventually got him his cake!

My only requirement is that I get no more grief about the wedding cake!

Decorating Part 2

After my first session of my cake decorating class and my practice at home, I wasn't feeling too great about the whole process... After class number 2 I'm feeling a little bit better about the whole thing. I had a blast and it was really fun to actually put to use the things that we were being taught!

I will not disclose how long it was before this entire cake was consumed...

Here Comes the Sun

Remember the "Arctic Blast" we had that canceled school last Friday? Well on Saturday the weather was GORGEOUS! So we decided to go on our 1st family bike ride!
Addie had a blast. She was singing to me the whole time.
I promise, her initial outfit for the day matched, but the girl needed a few warmer things on. Soon enough she'll be old enough that I can just tell people she dressed herself:) And at least she donning the all important BYU apparel.

My Baking Assistant

Right now I'm taking a cake decorating class... Scott's not the only one getting an official education around here:) Every week I have to bring a certain baked good to class to decorate. Addie is especially fond of these classes because it means she gets to be the official beater licker.
We don't really care all that much about the NFL around here, just college football. But when we do care, the only team we ever care about is the Packers. With Scott having lived in Wisconsin for a good portion of his life, his loyalties are with the green and gold. In preparation for the Super Bowl and to practice some of my new skills Addie and I made some Packers cookies. Addie was a green and gold mess when all was said and done. Hopefully I'll have some better looking cookies by the time I'm done with this class!
Oh, and yay for the Packers winning!:)

Snow In Houston

Protective Daddy

If you haven't heard, Houston is currently in the middle of an Arctic Blast! Although the city is freaking out, all there is to say about it is that it's cold right now.

This morning when I changed Addie's diaper, I didn't wanna get her dressed yet because she was about to eat breakfast and she'd make a mess, so I just put her in her high chair in her clean diaper to snack on some cereal. I went in to the kitchen to get my breakfast and came back out to find this:
My baby wrapped in a toga/tube top ensemble. Yes, her Daddy loves her. He is always looking out for her. He always goes out of his way to think about life from her perspective. What a lucky girl to have a daddy like him!
