The Mouse Scare

While I was visiting my family last week, we had a little mouse scare. The first night I was there we all heard a scratching type of noise coming from under my mom's china hutch. We decided that a mouse had probably gotten stuck under there. The hutch was so big that we didn't know how to get the mouse unstuck. Another problem was that we found a lot of shredded paper, which meant that the mouse was nesting and getting ready to have babies!

My mom decided that she'd get my dad to get the mouse on Sunday when he was home. We all just had to live with the scratching noises that it was making under there. Finally, on Friday night, we were playing a game at the kitchen table and we couldn't take listening to those noises anymore. We decided that we were going to try and get it out. When I say we, I mean the boys and my mom, while my sisters and I watch from on top of the countertops.

We weren't sure what we were going to do once we got the mouse out from under the hutch, but, as you can see in the video, we got it out and the mouse took off! It ran into the corner of the front living room. Sadie ran and opened the front door. We all thought that she was crazy because there would be no way we could actually shoo a mouse of the front door. That actually ended up being exactly what we did! It was one of the funniest moments of my life. Everyone was running around trying to stop the mouse from getting away. All the girls were screaming. My mom was actually very brave and used her pig herding background to get the mouse out the door! It was amazing! Don't judge my camera skills too harshly. There was a lot going on!
