3

The highly anticipated 3rd birthday finally arrived!
She had been waiting for this day for months.  A majority of her friends had already turned 3 and she was so eager to join their ranks.  Mostly because once you're 3 you can climb to the top of the playhouse at the gym.  She can't wait to get back to be allowed to do that:)

We had a wonderful birthday party for her on Sunday, which I'll blog about later.  For the party we explained to her that it wasn't her birthday yet, but that we were going to have the party since it was so close to her real birthday.  She processed this info and said, "So I'm just a little bit 3 right now, not all the way 3."  For the next several days she would always say that she was "just a little bit 3."

Last night when we put her to bed we were telling her that in the morning it would be her real birthday and the she would finally be 3!  She got so excited and kept saying, "I'm gonna go to bed and get bigger... I'm gonna wake up and be big!"  When I went in her room this morning and told her Happy Birthday she sadly said, "Mom!  I didn't get bigger.  I'm not bigger enough to be 3."  Over the course of the day we convinced her that she was, in fact, bigger enough to be 3.  By the end of the day if you asked her how old she was she would say, "I'm all the way 3!"

Here's how her low key day went:
She got taken out to breakfast by Grandma and Grandpa Ellsworth!
They took her to McDonald's and she ordered pancakes and oatmeal, pronounced oitmeal (she really does Kari:)).  When she got home I asked her how it was and to tell me all about it.  I think she thought she was turning 13, not 3 because she told me, "I don't wanna talk about it.  Stop asking me to talk to you about it!" I think she had a fun time, but I can't be sure.

Later in the day Uncle Nate had to go to basketball practice, so Addie of course tagged along for the ride with Grandpa.  They made a stop at Jamba Juice and brought some power sized ones home to share.  Only Addie wouldn't share it with me.  She wanted the entire power sized Jamba to herself! The girl loves her food.

Scott and I decided it would be fun to take her on a date without no little brother tag along.  After he went to bed we took her to her favorite place ever, Chicka fil A!

We told her it was a surprise where we were going.  She was excited when we pulled up.  She immediately knew where we were.  We asked her if she would like to have her very own ice cream.  Her eyes lit up!  She couldn't believe that she wouldn't have to share a lick.

By the way, the small cup of ice cream is massive!  I almost didn't let her eat it all, but I decided since it was her birthday she could have at it!

She also got to play in the play place.

Look at that static!
Addie, we love you so much!  The whole day I kept on thinking of what my life was like 3 years ago.  I could never have imagined how full you would make our lives and how much you would teach us.  We are so glad that you joined our family 3 years ago!
