A Trip Within a Trip

That's right.
We took a vacation within our already awesome vacation!
We journeyed to the Yucatan Peninsula to see Chichen Itza!
Okay, okay.  So we didn't really cruise on down there, but we got pretty close!
My older brother is an engineer.
My younger brother is going to become an engineer.
My husband is a wanna be engineer.
These things combine to create an awesome Christmas tradition of making intense "Gingerbread Houses" every year.

This year we decided to recreate the Mayan Civilization of Chichen Itza.
It's back when it was in it's prime.
As you can see, it was quite the bustling place.

Santa even makes a stop there!

Rows of crops.
Notice the guards with the headdresses.

The pig snuck past the guards

Notice the Priest at the top in the middle of performing a human sacrifice.
Like I said, the boys were in charge:)

To make the sacrifice in the temple more authentic, there had to be fire involved.

Behold, the temple, in all its glory!
