The good news for the weekend is that my little sister, Sarah, won a conference championship with her SLCC softball team! We were able to go and watch her pitch in the championship game yesterday. Her team went through the winner's bracket for the entire tournament. It was a lot of fun to watch her being the starting pitcher for every game. Not only did her team win the championship, she was named conference pitcher of the year as a freshman! Good job Sarah!
Because her team won the tournament, they get to play in the NJCAA tournament this coming week. I'm excited because this year the tournament is in St. George so I will get to go down with my mom and watch her play. Her team is ranked 5th in the Junior College standings right now, so they should do great this week!
Now for the bad news. Fortunately for us, our bad news was also surrounded by some great blessings! Yesterday morning we decided to walk to the clubhouse in our complex to workout. On our walk back, we noticed our car parked in a place in the complex that we did not put it. At first we both just stared it at, trying to figure out how it got there. As we walked up to it, we saw that it had been broken into. Someone took our car in the night, jimmied the ignition and drove the car to a secluded area of the complex so that they could steal the stereo. In the process of stealing the stereo they made a mess of the car, to say the least.
As we stood there trying to make sense of all of this, we realized so many ways that the Lord had blessed us. First of all, we stumbled onto our car, instead going to get in it and not knowing where on earth it could be. We didn't have to frantically look for it. Second, when they broke in, they didn't brake any windows, which will save us a lot of money! Third, they left the most expensive things sitting in the car like Scott's sunglasses I got him for Christmas and his golf clubs in the trunk. They only made off with a very cheap stereo and the $3 of change we left in there. Fourth, we still have the car! We feel so blessed that they didn't take the entire car with them. It is truly amazing how the Lord watches over us and blesses us. Sometimes it is so easy to see all of the awful things that happen in our lives, but within almost every awful situation, the Lord gives us blessings, we just have to be willing to see them.
