We were so lucky to have my mom come visit during Scott's month off.
None of us, except Scott had ever been to Nauvoo before so we decided to make the drive out there and see it all together!
We first made a stop at Carthage Jail, where Joseph Smith was martyred.
It was such a neat experience and it was a nice learning opportunity for Addie.
It felt weird to smile in the picture below, but the serious face felt weird too...
Then we headed to Navuoo and learned all about their lifestyle. How they cooked, made fabric and rope.

At the night show there was a children's parade. Addie was so excited to get to walk in it. She had no clue what was going on, but she knew it was important, which meant she loved it!
The first night in Nauvoo Bennett was up screaming all night long. We couldn't figure out what was going on. In the morning, he started showing signs of not being able to breath. He was wheezing and gasping for air. It was terrifying! We tried to go to a pharmacy to get him some medicine, but these kinds of things are REALLY hard in a small town. We had no luck getting him any help. We decided to let him try to sleep it off while he napped in our arms because we still had so much to see.

Around lunchtime we got really nervous about Bennett. It's really scary for a body that small to be working that hard to get a little bit of air. We didn't know how long he could keep it up. We decided to take him into the nearest emergency room. After getting a breathing treatment and spending a fortune he was feeling so much better. It was amazing how quickly that medicine helped him. We don't know if it was really bad allergies, or what, but we were glad he was feeling better! We were also really grateful that my mom was there so that she could spend a fun afternoon with Addie in town, while Scott and I took care of Bennett.
We made it back just in time to see the missionaries' show. We saw these cute missionaries everywhere, singing and dancing. Addie loved them and called them princesses!
The Trail of Hope was my favorite part of the whole trip. If you are in Nauvoo, you must go!
It was fascinating learning all about the early saints of the church. I am grateful for the sacrifices that they made so that the church could thrive. I am so grateful to have the gospel in my life today because of their sacrifices.
