Our New Year's Eve was a little different than it usually is. We went to our friend's apartment and hung out until midnight. Went home and got to bed about 1:00 and about 3:00 am Addie started making her way into the world! We called the doctor at about 6:00 am and were in the hospital, ready to go by 7:00. Needless to say, we were exhausted before it even began!
Here we are, waiting through the contractions.
My sister, Sarah, came to visit us on the 27th. We had so much fun with her, just waiting for Addie to come. Unfortunately, Addie came 2 hours too late for her Aunt Sarah to see her. Sarah spent the day in the hospital with us, but had to leave at 4:30 p.m. to catch her flight home. Addie was born at 5:14 p.m.
The whole time I was at the hospital my contractions were going well, really strong and regular. But, Addie just wasn't dropping like she needed too. They kept watching her and noticed that she would drop when I would have a contraction. Finally at 5:00ish the doctor said he wanted to try pushing to see if that would get her into the birth canal and out. I pushed once and Addie's heart rate plummeted from the 120's to the 60's. The doctor decided that she wasn't going to make it out safely that way, and he instantly decided that we were going to do a c-section. The instant he said this, it was kind of chaotic with people running around everywhere to get everything ready to operate. It was really scary not knowing if she was going to be okay. Within 10 minutes I was lying on the operating table and they were preparing to get her out. Within 5 minutes of that, Addie was born. It was crazy how quickly they were able to get her here. Scott and I are so grateful we live in a day with modern medicine, because otherwise Addie might not have made it.
Our first family photo. Scott looks good in his surgical wear!
Proud Grandma! Scott's mom had perfect timing. Although Sarah barely missed her birth, Sue's flight got in just after she was born, so she was able to be there on Addie's birthday.
Even prouder Daddy!
Scott just loves this little girl more than anything!

So precious!
This past week has been one of the craziest of our lives and I'm sure it will get crazier!
We're so grateful to have our little girl home and safe.
