Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! This year we were a little bit sad about this happy holiday because, for the first time, we wouldn't be spending it with family. Much to our surprise, it was still a wonderful Thanksgiving! We got together with all of our friends that were also familyless for the holiday and had a big feast! We decided to have it at our apartment. I was a little nervous about fitting 9 people into our little place and around our table. My job this week was to make sure that we everything we needed for the dinner. I found all of our china that we'd never really been able to use until yesterday. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Fairbanks for the china that we love, we finally got to give it the use it deserves!

Here is a picture of our cramped, but cozy table!
Since dinner was at our apartment, we were in charge of the turkey. We were nervous! This Thanksgiving I was thankful for a wonderful husband that did the turkey gutting for me!
Bright and early, we got up and volunteered at the Turkey Trot with some of our friends. Our job was to make sure the runners stayed on the course and turned around at the right time. Crucial if you ask me! For the first time, we were truly cold in Houston! We were bundled up, and Stefan bought all us girls some hot chocolate. Thanks Stefan!

It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without some football!
The boys got to warm up before the stake turkey bowl.

Here's Caywood's little guy, Jackson, on his first Thanksgiving!
Our beautifully golden turkey fresh out of the oven. We were proud of ourselves!
Scott doing the honors of carving the bird.
And of course, it was followed by games and a lot of delicious dessert!
I decided to go on my first Black Friday expedition. My friend, Amelia taught me the ropes of it. I must say, we had a very successful morning. Our first stop was Best Buy. The line was insanely long to get in. I was really nervous we would be there forever and come out with some bruises. I was pleasantly surprised when we get right in, found what I wanted and didn't even have to wait in like to check out!
Me with my prized purchase. We decided that instead of getting presents for each other, we would just get one family present. With the anticipated arrival of our little girl, what better present to get than a video camera so we can record all of baby's firsts?!
Not to mention that I got a steal of a deal!
Here's where things got crazy! Fortunately for us, we made it out okay and with the deal that Amelia wanted. It just took a long time in line.
It was such a great Thanksgiving! We decided that this year we are especially grateful for friends. We love all of the great couples we've gotten to know in the short time that we've been in Houston!
