Halloween Happenings

We were lucky to get to go to a fun Halloween party the Saturday before Halloween this year.
There was face painting, a fishing pond and a cupcake walk.  I can't even tell you how many rounds of that cupcake walk we had to do to get Addie a cupcake!

In the background here is one of Addie's best friends, and also Bennett's girlfriend.
He is obsessed with her and is always giving her loves!

For family home evening we did some pumpkin carving with friends.

My Ghost

The Oakden's owl
On Halloween we had to head to our favorite tradition, Chipotle!
Cheap food when you dress up.  Done!

We donned our usual crayon costumes.

Then we went trick or treating with some friends. I left my phone home, so alas, no pictures.
Our night was cut short when Addie took a huge spill.  She was running too fast trying to keep up with her friend, and she fell on the concrete really hard!  Her head broke her fall and she had a nice skid mark on her forehead, not to mention her bloody knees and ripped tights.  Poor girl.  Don't worry, she got plenty of candy before that and was cheered up nicely by a sucker.

One of her favorite friends.  These girls LOVE playing dress ups!

Halloween Costumes 2013

This year we were off to Neverland for Halloween!
With Bennett's red hair, I thought he would make the cutest Peter Pan and Tinkerbelle wasn't a hard sell to Addie, so that's what we went with!
I thought they made the cutest duo.
Making fun Halloween costumes for kids is one of my favorite things I get to do as their mom.  It's getting more fun every year because now Addie's starting to get opinions about how things should look and she likes to get in on the creative process.  And Bennett was LOVING playing with each phase of his costume as it was coming together. He would run around with his hat on all the time!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to an adorable pumpkin patch this year!
We went with just the 3 of us, but Scott ended up getting off of work early enough to meet us there!
Yay!

Addie was WAY too scared to get on the giant rocking chair.

Addie was determined to lasso the steer.  I loved how hard she tried! Though, she never came close. Maybe next year.

This is one of my fave pics of the kids.
It kills me that Scott's the one that messed it up by yawning!  He's the one I count on to be smiling:)

Man does this little guy love his Daddy cuddles.

Prepping for her future as a plumber.

Best Job Ever

I have the best job ever.
I really do.
I get to hang out with these little monkeys all day and do things like watch movies and pop popcorn on a lazy weekday afternoon.
It kills me how grown up Bennett looks watching a movie and snacking on his own bowl of popcorn!

Indoor Camping

Much to my surprise, Scott promised Addie they could camp in the backyard one weekend.
He promised this without first checking the forecast.  That Friday night turned out to be raining and under 40 degrees.  Camping in the backyard definitely did not happen!
We decided to do indoor camping.
I was thinking we'd grill hot dogs and marshmallows over our grill.  I totally forgot we had a fireplace that would actually make it fun!  Houston made me forget how awesome fireplaces are.
Scott got to show off his fire making skills.
The kids had a blast!!!
Only problem is, now Addie won't stop asking if we can have camping!
(PS All of these pictures are horrible quality.  Fire lighting is not great, but I don't care:))

S'mores face!

We blew up the air mattress, which Addie and Scott slept on the whole night.
We also watched some Halloween movies and let the kids stay up late.
They were in love!

A Special Day With Dad

Back in September (yes, I'm that far behind!) Scott had a busy month at work and we didn't have any weekends without work to spend with him.  Finally, at the end of the month he had an entire Saturday off and we definitely took advantage of it!

We took the kids downtown to Kaleidoscope.  It basically a gigantic art studio and the kids can make all sorts of art projects.  Addie loves it and Bennett's starting to get the hang of it!  Mostly he just loves running around.  After that we headed to Costco, which is always one of our family's favorite things to do.  We stopped for lunch.  Then that night before dinner we took the kids to the trail that's right behind our house.  Addie loves to ride her bike on it and Bennett loves to run.  We also watched a lot of football throughout the day and Bennett started trying to mimic the linemen.  Adorable!

This series of pictures is seriously some of my favorites ever.
